Weird food

With all the people who haven't tried peanut butter, there are probably one or 2 who haven't had boiled peanuts. YUM!

 

OK..don't make me go back out for boiled peanuts.
Are they in the shell? Do you eat the shell if so?

 

Yep, they're in the shell, but you don't eat the shell. Pop them open and suck them down. Mushy & salty. They're basically green peanuts boiled in brine (some people add other seasonings--like cajun flavored peanuts.)

 

mushy? just the shell or is the peanut mushy too?
I guess I'll have to buy a can. but mushy doesn't sound good.
We sell a can with cajun seasoning.

 

Canned? Sacrilege! Better to get them from the scary-looking guy cooking them up in a caldron on the side of the road!

And yes, they're mushy. But much better than cold boiled okra.

 

If I ever see one I'll stop.

okra...never had that either.

 

Okra is great fried.

Cold & boiled = vegetables packed in snot.

 

Boiled peanuts are pretty standard snack in Asia. It is quite addictive though. Once start, can't stop, and have to finish the whole bag.
