    I've been playing around with finishes on a Kato Kikuryu for someone lately... gone through a few different revisions of what i wanted to do and how i went about it it... here was the first one:

    Thinning and quick refinish of a watanabe wa-gyuto (customer opted for spine to edge finishing in this case)

    another takeda (this time with a natural stone finish and the same kind of sharpening takeda-san does for his knives... but at a slightly lower angle).

  11. Jon, approximately how long would you spend doing a job like tha from thinning to finishing?

    this one was pretty easy, as it was pretty much there geometry-wise. Just needed to fix a broken tip, do a bit of sharpening, some quick refinishing, and polishing. If the handle could have come off, it would have been like 45 minutes, but in this case, maybe 1:15-1:30

  16. Jon. Impressive. I just wish I was in USA and not in EU to be able to send you few of my knives. Some could definitely benefit from your magical hands and stones.

    the last one was a bit tough... the ura was not well ground, and doesnt look as nice as i could make the front look
