Lol! I will on the next one Jim, this one is gone already. I gave it to a friend at my current work place before I leave. It is from the blank I posted earlier in this thread. Only other pic I got is this poor cell phone shot that I tried.

So, I dug out my now three year old GL Pease Maltese Falcon and Key Largo (aged in canning jars), and bought three estate pipes on eBay (two Savinelli De Luxe, and a Republic of Ireland Peterson Shamrock). I have them refurbed, and I'm looking forward to smoking them this weekend, when I'll be making and then smoking some Hungarian sausage.

yeah, it was actually. I had no clue what I was doing, so I took cue's from my Peterson. Not sure what I would do different on the next, but I didn't wreck this one, so its all good.

I would suggest buying a bunch of worn out estate pipes on ebay, and then cutting them in half. chamber and throat dimensions can make a big difference in how the pipes smoke. Really nice results, btw.

I just had a Savinelli full of the GL Pease Maltese Falcon that I jarred in August 2010, and it was pretty damn good!

I have some pipe makers ask for some other woods than briar.
Non stabilized Bog Oak was the most sought after. The pipe guys call it "Morta".
and Madrone Burl, they call it strawberry tree burl.

Ha! Thanks Mark! I haven't heard of this till now. So the bog oak... The old, black variety? 5000+ year old stuff?

morta is a specialty in the pipe world, and usually carries a premium along with it, and it is the old black stuff
ive had some in olive wood I think it was also, heavy for a pipe wood but mine smokes well
