So what do you think about it? I have analyzed those pictures very carefully and I have my own idea of what happened, but first I want to know what do you have to say.

 

Bummer...it happens, sometimes that bond just does not take.

What epoxy did you use, possibly wrong mix? Or just some twisting while using. A dowel will help build the strength between the two pieces, or backfill with epoxy.

 

I don't know what bruising garlic is but by the way that break progresses, it appears to involve lying the blade flat, holding it down while lifting the handle pivoting at the machi with considerable force..

 

I think the party of the first part was bruising a turnip.

 

why would we be smashing garlic with a deba in the first place?!

Don't worry too much about it.

 

Cleanness of the break suggests glue bond wasn't the greatest, but as it is right on the joint should be save able.
Given the shortness of the tang the joint may need more reinforcing than normal as less of the force is transferred to the main handle block
