After a bit of reading I found out that a lot of the plants I like to grow should be planted in the fall and early spring. So I got an early start this year.

I planted my garlic in October.

Most of the herbs were wintered over.

The rhubarb and potatoes are coming up.

The lettuce and peas are sprouting.

The ducks are in charge of garden security. They are supposed to get any bugs but they like to chase the dog as well. I think they are just getting even with the dog for chasing them when they were younger.
Mama duck is the brains of the group, the 2 guys are just the muscle.

Garden looking good! Time to start tomatoes soon.

We have a couple wild ducks that show up in the yard from time to time. They lurk and then fly up in front of you to give you a scare. And then they laugh.

That pasture fence is about 4 foot, but they even jump over 8 foot fences.

Seems like they could share one parking space, why take up 3?

ahahha most fences are not deer stoppers (watch one get halfway through one and push al lthe way ) and as the pics show they are quite apt to leaping shorter ones
my aunt tells me they love her sweet taters and eat them back to the "cage" she keeps them in

Great photos! My neighbor has 8- 9' fences that stop the deer but he swears its because they cannot see through it so they wont jump. He grows all sorts of climbers and vines on it.
Planted some tomato, parsley and peas indoors a little bit ago to get a head start.

Around here there are a lot of growers of questionable crops.
They put up an 8 foot fence and then a few feet outside of that they run wires like used for electric cattle fences.
It is supposed to work but not sure I want to spend that much time and money.

Found these in the garage so I planted them to see if they'll still grow.

You can't have too many potatoes.

The garden ducks are helping to get one of the raised beds ready for planting.

Nice of them to help fertilize and get a bunch of bugs out.
