172 x 47 Nikiri Project in 52100

Discussion in 'Brock Cutlery' started by Mark Brock, Feb 27, 2020.

  1. This is the first of the two Nikiri blades I'm working up. This one is turning out great so far.
Tapered blade from 3mm above heal to 1.4mm at tip.
Mile convex grind with thin cutting tip. Should be very nice to work with.

  4. This one is getting close to done. Gluing up the handle now. This will be available. I'll give a full description later this evening or tomorrow.

  5. Hi All, this one is finished and available.
52100 at 62 hardness. Thin slight convex grind done on rotary platen. Full distal taper from 3mm down to 1mm.
Choil and spine rounded for comfort. Balance is just behind the choil as shown in the photo below.

Ironwood with silver half dollar spacer, buffed lightly. This ironwood has a glow and grain that is not common. A very beautiful piece to be sure. Not overly gaudy, just elegant lines and grain.
Blade sanded to 1200 and buffed lightly. It's not a mirror finish, but I am liking it. Should take a great patina.

Asking $255.00 plus shipping. Saya might be something we can talk about if desired.
    Thanks for having a look!
