Rick, curious about your thoughts on this one, if you don't mind sharing? I eyeballed this one myself for a bit, but have no personal experience with his knives. Does look right up my alley though

Cool looking handle on that martel, but that Carter is looking awesome. Also looks taller than usual?

The Carter is 285 mm on the edge and 65 mm tall at the heel. Here's a pic with a "normal" size 240 Hiromoto for comparison. Dave called it a "monsteryuto" when he installed the handle.

285mm?? Holy schnickies! You cut with that sword or just slap things around with it? That's a beast!

Taking it out is enough to scare an onion into dicing itself.

When I see this handle from Fish it makes me smile because I think about all the handle makers out there today copying this same design almost exactly. This whole handle thing started with him, I don't think Fish would believe it.

Another fantastic score, Rick. I can honestly say that Joe at Halcyon Forge is making some fantastic knives. The two I have I literally can't stop playing with.

Nice one, Rick. How do you like the denka? Others seem quite gaga over them.

I've only had it a couple of days, but first impressions are very positive. I have to keep in mind that this knife not only has a custom handle but was given a "spa treatment" by the previous owner, including polishing the blade road. So the level of fit and finish of this knife is quite a bit better than the Maboroshi no Meito wa-gyuto that passed through my hands a few months ago, though that one was not at all bad.

Offhand I'd say it will give the Kurosaki I got from you a run for its money. Might even be a bit better cutter.

That sounds like it's pretty good if you're comparing to the Kurosaki.
Speaking of which, how are you making out with that one? I'd love to hear your thoughts on it.

    Hope all is well!
