My first few knives

Discussion in 'Knife & Gear Galleries' started by Rmaza, Apr 29, 2015.

  1. These are the first knives that I have made. My setup includes a double burner gas forge, 135lb Hay-Budden anvil, and a 1x30 grizzly belt grinder. I've set up shop in my dads wood shop and have access to plenty of tools. I'm 27 and been doing this just over a year. Problem is I rarely have time to travel 1.5hours to my fathers shop and when i do I'm always rushing to finish a knife!

The knives were not planned out well at all, I just started hammering on some metal. I know there are a lot of problems with them but they are sharp and hardened fairly well. I'll list a few details about each.

Thanks for any tips, compliments, or criticism(constructive or not I can handle it)!

First knive ever!! Not sure what I was thinking about blade shape here, 1080, ~8in blade, forced patina, box elder burl

Second knive, 1080, a little better shape this time, forced patina, box elder burl

Most recent: Smaller knife, 1095 clay hardened. This is my first attempt at a hamon, gave up on some scratches, the notch just in front of the handle does not really flow and regret that part.
