Anybody do it? My daughter said it would be so much easier and that I was just showing off with my fancy knives. I tried it on butternut and spaghetti squash. Just enough to ease cutting. 4-5 minutes maybe. Easy to peel and easier to cut. Then I read about spaghetti squash exploding if microwaved too long without a vent cut. Is this cheating?

  2. Works great - just poke the squash all over with a fork so things don't 'splode.

  3. My mom has been cooking potatoes (skin on, whole) in the mike for the last 20 years and it works brilliantly.
We've done it at work as well, when we ran out of baked potato and needed a quick one. (8-10mins in the mike, brush of oil, salt, pepper in the oven for another 5 and done.)

My buddy Scott swears by the micro for eggplant. Stacks the slices in between towels and gives them a shot. Pulls all the moisture out and they fry up crisp.
