I have more stuff than I can jeep track of , but saw a new knife care kit offered by Shun. Designed primarily for carbon. $25. Claims to be similar to stuff traditional used on swords. Anybody have an opinion or experience with it?

  2. I guess that sword story is from the marketing departement, which might be quite large. Maintenance of a simple carbon steel is very simple, indeed. A fine stone and a piece of leather with Cr2O3 should do. I didn't know that Shun was in the market for simple carbon maintenance. Would you have by chance any link?

Snake oil. A little Flitz or Mother's with an old rag will do the same thing.
