We carry Japanese made ATOMA diamond plates in 140x, 400x, 600x, & 1200x grit levels.

Atoma diamond plates are somewhat different from other diamond plates. To prevent clogging, when used as a stone flattener, the diamonds have been electro-deposited with surface interruption. When the diamond surface becomes worn, as they all do, only the thin surface plate is replaced - not the entire (complete) base. This makes for a "green" solution that is more cost effective as well.

Atoma diamond plates are reported to be the fastest cutters while providing the smoothest surfaces (on tools and stones) and also giving us hand sharpeners a flattening plate that doesn't stick easily to stones during lapping.

Atoma diamond plates are recommended for flattening both Japanese synthetic and the very hard Japanese natural stones.

  2. Used DMT XXC for years and finally picked up a 140x Atoma recently. Absolutely love it, night and day difference. Well worth the slightly higher cost!
