Haven't planted anything, but doing a lot of pruning. Filling up 3 96-gal totes every 2 weeks, with piles left over. Ow.

Yikes! IIRC you have an amazing outdoor space though. lots of plants.

We will probably throw some seeds in the ground next weekend. The plants that are started need to get just a bit bigger first before going outside.

4 gardens tilled up. 1 planted with green beans. Some squash and zucchini out there too. And 9 tomato plants. About 6 to many if you ask me!

Plans are for bell peppers, hot peppers, cantaloupe, watermelon, cucumber. Lord knows what else.

    Did some planting today -

One garden of tomatoes. One garden of bell peppers. A garden of green beans (not pictured). Potatoes, squash, zucchini scattered about. Still need to do cucumbers, watermelon and cantaloupe.

Let the garden go for two weeks and you spend 2 days weeding. I got 2 more patches to weed tomorrow. What a nightmare. A bit to early to see the plants in the photos. But everything is coming up.

Anyone have experience with cover crops? Planing winter rye after the garden harvest to protect the soil during the winter and cut down on weeds.....?

That's a nice little slice of heaven you have there Jason.

I've planted rye in the fall to cover back fill to keep it from washing out before the next spring/summer. It came up fast and did the job.

What i’m Confused about is the “no tilling” aspect. You plant winter rye after the garden is done and it protects the soil through the winter and chokes out the weeds. Some say to mow it before you plant and then till it. It will provide nitrogen to the soil. Others say just mow it and dig a hole where ever you want to plant. No more weeding the garden. But you’ll still have to mow the rye.....

I’m gonna try it and see how it works. Maybe just do one or two gardens.

Can’t recall what this is. Zucchini or squash.

Tomatoes, pepper plants of some sort, and another zucchini or squash.
