130mm Chalef for scheita of poultry

Discussion in 'Houston Edge Works' started by Pennman88, Dec 15, 2015.

  1. The chalef is a knife for the kosher slaughter of animals and has some rules associated with its form. There are generally 3 sizes, small for poultry, medium for lamb and veal, large for beef. The requirements are described in Leviticus as well as a couple other places including the Babylonian Talmud. This is one is for poultry and is CPM 154CM with blue box elder Burl bolsters and wenge handle. Blue and white G10 trim. image.jpeg

Interesting. Do you have plans to make the longer blades for lamb/veal and cows?

  3. Yes. I do plan on making longer ones. Maybe a matching set.

I don't think I've seen that style posted here yet. Always fascinating the many different styles of blades.
