What is the worse treatment of a good knife you've seen?

I've seen a couple of stories about trips through the dishwasher, but there must be some truely cringe worthy accounts for those of us who can't look away from the train wreck.

Pics too if you have them:eek:

Ohhh Dave... You have struck deeply into my psyche. When I opened that image, I involuntarily cringed, the hair stood up on the back of my neck and I shuddered. There must be some tale of woe to go with that bad boy. Someone attempting to replicate the Buck knife logo perhaps?

The edge wasn't toothy enough to slice tomatoes....

    Dave
Were you able to save it?

I did although back when I got that in my skills and equipment were lacking so I managed to get it serviceable only. I can recall a huge amount of sweat being lost and a lot of stone flattening going on. Painful!

Honestly I don't even remember who the owner is let alone the conversation. Something in the back of my mind is saying that someone borrowed the knife but that could be something else I'm recalling.

If you don't mind my asking, what the hell do you even charge for that repair? Whatever it was, I'm sure it wasn't enough.

  16. Bobby Flay opening cans with his knife. Makes my stomach hurt every time. You would figure at his age and expertise he'd master a can opener by now :k

In another thread some of the posters report that lots of chefs are clueless when it comes to knives. Seemed odd but, opening cans with your knife?!

    Any more horror stories?

brokenknife.jpg The story with this one, was that it was dropped on a tile floor. It was from an Instructable where believe it or not, they tig welded it back together. :fp2

I always cringe first/slap second when I see a knuckle had tying to open a can with a knife. There's always that one idiot!

  20. The worst abuse u can have is owning a nice knife and not using it in my opinion
