  2. good day, I'm Harbeer

I'm from Los Angeles (born in London) and just moved to Clarkdale AZ., bought some property and setup shop.
I was in manufacturing operations mgmt for 20+ years and I have 2 Master's degrees. I was knife making part time for 2 1/2 yrs and just went full time in Dec 2017. Previously and somewhat less now I was a collector of custom folding knives.

I studied originally with Murray Carter for 9 days who though me bladesmithing as well as James Rodebaugh MS for a week who taught me handles and guards and Mike Vagnino MS who taught me slip joints.
I appreciate high carbon steels. They can take a keen edge well, are easy to sharpen and age with character. My goal is to make the customer a high quality knife that they enjoy using. I hand forge and heat treat each blade myself in my shop in a propane forge. The heat treat process is what I enjoy the most because it is the foundation that turns ordinary steel into a useful tool. I quench the laminated steels in straight water and flash temper.

In a world where things are "made to sell" versus "made to last", a handmade knife takes us back to the time when there was real craftsmanship and pride in producing a useful tool. I enjoy cooking regularly and making high quality kitchen knives. My knives have a thin hard edge and are known for being very sharp. Frame handles are where I distinguish myself in terms of a look. Lately I've been getting back into slip joint folders. They required alot more bench work which I enjoy and they are challenging to do well at a high level. Lastly I will goto Paris in mid Sept and exhibit at the SICAC show.

here's a little video of me doing a water quench -

    regards
    Harbeer
