Finally. A food/bbq related item. A steak turner made out of a rail spike. Spike head retained so you can tell what it was. Had to draw out the 5/8 inch cross section down to a point. Fun but more work than I'd anticipated. forge102.jpg forge104.jpg

That looks like something I really "need". Not so much for turning steaks, but just because it looks so cool! [IMG]

    thanks
Warren. Here is another rail spike project. not as well executed as the steak turner, but made from one rail spike. 20 inches long. I have learned what is meant by long drawn our process. forge120.jpg

I thought it would be a good grill fork or wiener roaster. tines are a little blocky though

I have been doing a few things. Sorry for not posting. Since I'm not yet up to making kitchen knives (my ultimate goal) was holding off. I needed a grinder. Here is how I addressed that need. It' pic heavy. forge181.jpg forge179.jpg forge180.jpg forge181.jpg forge182.jpg forge183.jpg forge197.jpg forge199.jpg forge202.jpg

I would love to have a belt grinder like that. It seems that is an essential tool needed for iron working efficiency.
