Where ever I can I will try and put up a small thing or something a bit different, a concept up for Auction.
I see the Auction tool as a potentially great thing for the Forum and makers. I think it just needs to be used and built up, a bit like Ebay, first your attracted by the cheap prices, then it becomes a viable means of sale.
So I'm half expecting to take some losses until things get built up, but I will try and put something up every month even it be a small thing.

So for October we have a Catcheside Travel Companion set,
This consists of what I would describe as a Honyaki Petty/Utility in Achim's Super Clean sc125 carbon steel.
What makes this a Utility, multi use is the heat treatment and the final geometry. This steel is quite versatile and works well in either a glassy hard 65/66hrc for my thin edge chef knives or a very tough 63/64 hrs for thougher and slightly thicker edge tools. This is the latter and will be as useful for dealing with game, general cutting tasks whilst perfectly pleasant to dice food for dinner. Its low height helps with this versatility, and when combines with a small apple wood travel board the height is perfect for preparing dinner on your travels.
The Knife is accompanied by a chunky wenge, saya matching the wa handle...and with a simple brass pin, the say is to protect the blade when in your luggage, knife should not live in the saya all the time, as it might eventually rust in there.
The handle is my standard wedge wa, with a bright red spacer.....Its a good cm shorter than a Petty handle to keep things compact...
I am including the small apple wood travel cutting board. Its fairly soft wood but won't damage your edge, keeps the blade at a perfect height to work and its got an attractive grain....as well as being very light for travel! But due to softness it may have a fairly short lifespan... but hey its included!!

    Here are the blade specifications......

Carbon Honyaki Sc125, with utility heat treatment, hard and very tough!! Slightly thicker edge for general utility tasks as well as preparing food very nicely.
    Blade length 130mm
    Thickness at handle - 4mm, heel 3.1,,,, 10mm from tip 1mm
    Height - 24mm
    weight 75g

    And the pictures....
Auction is for the complete set, Knife, Saya, pin, small apple travel board... It will come with a simple knife slip and a certificate from me.
