Always forget to post after buying something and I have been a bit of a stranger so I thought I'd post most of my current gear.

  3. I'm envy! Very nice collection!

I think I can recognise most of them. What's the knife to the left of Nakiri? DT ITK? And what's the biggest one? I assume it's sabatier with reground finger guard…

Working left to right is a 310mm (roughly) vintage Dexter - amazing steel. And yes one of my earliest projects to remove the bolster fingerguard. Bought from Son on KKF several years back - really well maintained old knife. Next is a 300mm Kono Swedish bought from Tosho on a trip to Toronto. Rehandled with a Mikey handle, excellent job done by Dave M. Next is a 275mm Zakuri refinished with ku removed. Then a Catcheside catchyblue that I just got a week or two ago. Probably my most versatile - about 255mm, wife bevel, long enough to slice, tall enough to cut veg. Struggle with 270mm gyuto but sometimes wish for longer than 240, this fits perfectly. Next is a slightly long 240 Dalman aebl from last year, HHH production 240 aebl from the holiday run a few years back - wife knife! In the process of refinishing handle hence the matte finish. Next is a Tansu 235, one of his first knives, I am third owner but great steel, great cutter, although not reflective of his current work I am told. I can see why his work took off so fast however! Next is a Catcheside O1 4mm stock heavy 235mm gyuto. Then a 210mm stainless clad white Gengetsu from latest run, 210 Devin Thomas Aebl gyuto from the long waited run a few years back. Then a ku shig Nakiri wife knife. Followed by a Kochi double beveled V2 honesuki. Next is a petty from down under, Keith Fludder, 155mm petty in 52100 - epic heat treat on this steel! And then an Ealy parer in Aebl from awhile back!

Rick you were the original buyer of this Tansu correct? I bought from the guy you sold it to.

Yes, I believe I was the original buyer. You got it from Nick, right?

You're right about how Mert's work has evolved. That knife was the last stock removal blade he made, if I remember correctly.

I've replaced it with one of Mert's damascus Westerns:
