  1. Soooo, last Friday I got my first knife by a custom western knife maker (Mario). This one stayed on the boards long enough for me to put together the budget from two months and then Mario was nice enough to hold it for me until I finished payment. I have less fitness gear but the most gorgeous knife I have ever held. Very happy

You scored one hell of a knife here. I came so close to picking this one up on several occasions. Now that I see your pics I'm kicking myself in the ass for not snagging it. Damn the jokes.

  3. It is stunning indeed, and it feels very nice in hand. Haven't had much time to use it though. I'm a happy broke man :)

Thanks guys. Actually, the Bloodroot isn't a lottery score, but rather my turn on their waiting list. They emailed me last fall but timing wasn't perfect with new baby due soon. So they postponed for a couple months.

These guys are pretty on point when it comes to their timelines. My first knife from them I was quoted a 6 month wait, and sure enough 6 months later- boom. That was quite a while ago.
This gyuto I was quoted 26 months, IIRCC, and they reached out at that time. It's like a little anniversary to celebrate the moment you commit to putting your name on the list.
And I think wait time now is close to 4 years? Not surprising though.

This knife is just under 230mm, which has become my sweet spot as of late. Carbon 52100 at 64rc. Integral Handle wearing black dyed cherry wood.

The Mario is around 230mm as well, sporting his awesome d- handle in ironwood with mammoth spacer.

Haven't been buying much lately, just waiting on a few customs to come through that's been on wait for past couple years plus.
