  1. On the way home from shopping today I decided to stop at our local electrical goodies superstore to have a look at the Xbox One prices, the Mrs waited in the car as I was only going 'to have a look'
Ended up treating myself to one, when I got in the car the Mrs didn't look happy!!
She bought me one for Xmas:eek::fp2

I felt pretty bad as it had blown her Xmas surprise, but she wasn't too upset as it she can return it and save herself £220:D

I've done similar things myself. Always best to wait till the season passes. Warren the trick is to only buy yourself things that she doesn't know about:oops:

  3. I tried really hard to hold off until the new year, Mike! Last year the prices dropped a bit on the consoles at Christmas then went back up again after, so I thought I would grab one at the lowest they have been so far!
I did say to her a few times that I am about to order one online or pop in a shop and get one, guess she thought I wasn't serious or so eager:D
I guess I will be getting a couple of games for it for Xmas instead:jump

So what games are you into? Are you a Fallout fan?

  5. I haven't really been playing games for a while, Bill!
Just got back into Skyrim on the 360, started a new character so slowly building that one up. So open adventure type stuff, Fallout looks good and so does The Witcher 3.
Quite a lot of choice and the used games are pretty cheap and pretty risk free with 6-12 month warranty, don't often buy new ones to be honest, means I can try more for my money!

I think this is a Y-chromosome thing. "Honey, it's the day before Christmas/my birthday/our anniversary etc. Guess what I just bought for myself!"

  7. In my defense..... ok you may have a point!! But I have been looking at these for a couple of months and we weren't really doing expensive gifts this year, soooo... I kind of didn't do the typical man shopping thing!

You're right about the cost of new games Warren.
I never buy new, I always wait for the inevitable price drop for used.
I'm sticking with my PS3 for a while longer. So many games available now for 1/3 original cost!

  9. Pre-owned has worked fine for me, only had one not work even though it looked scratch free, but the shop swapped in no questions asked.
I still have the first 'proper' games computer I got, a Commodore Amiga A500 from the late 80's!! Still occasionally get together with one of my original school friends and hook it up to the tv and play the old games:D
It sometimes sounds like it won't fire up, but it keeps plodding along!

  10. I played one of the games that came with it for few hours last night, Ori and the Blind Forest, great looking game but very frustrating:confused: Died about 30 times in 30 minutes:D

That's how I was at those Call of Duty games! If I was on your team we would loose for sure.

  12. For sure! When I first played those games I would be running about pressing all the buttons, jumping up and down randomly, throwing grenades in all directions and generally causing chaos!!

Missed this thread... nice mention of the A500 :D

  14. Still love the old A500! A lot of those games had great game play and kept you hooked for ages:D

Right now I am thinking of Moonstone: A Hard Days Knight :)

  16. That was good! I seem to remember a werewolf or something?
There are sooo many others! Xenon 2, Kick Off, R-type, Lemmings, Shadow of the Beast, Double Dragon, Golden Axe, Outrun, Test Drive, Super Cars etc etc....

Yeah that one was one of the most brutal games on the system :)
You're listing some really good games and some of them with great music!
I should add the lotus series to that ;)
