    Always impressive work Cris!

  2. Thanks guys!!

Robert, it's nice to get back to working at all. Scratching out enough schedule to finish the auction razors in time over this last few weeks was difficult. It's good to be headed towards a more productive mode again.

Hope these posts can continue. I was starting to go into withdrawals!

  4. Rough for sure brother. Not over the hump yet...next Thursday is court. My understanding is that things rarely go the father's way in Arizona...so it's an uphill battle despite the boatloads of evidence I have. She has no evidence to support anything she's asking for. Pretty much all a mom has to do is not be on drugs and not be in prison...show up to the court and say 'I'm here, give me my kids' though...and that's that.

    I guess we'll see what we'll see.

    How about this my friend??

Saya is almost done. I broke my punch for the stitch holes...with like 20 left to do, so it's going to have to wait until tomorrow. The color is a custom dye job by me lol. I'm pretty happy with the results as it's my first time. Once it's waxed etc it's REALLY going to pop :).

  5. Great work Cris

  6. The purple version is called Camatillo, it is gorgeous in the deep purple colou r and stupidly hard. I have used it twice in knife handles and have another on the way with basically the same concept idea of nickle and ancient red gum/African blackwood.

You will be able to do some amazing things with it and it oils up very very nicely. I'm quite excited to see how it looks with your handle designs!

    Keep me posted :D

    Chadd.

Love it Cris. thanks. I've wondered about leather for a saya. I know in guns and hunting knives, I've been admonished in the past to remove them for storage as the admonishers warned of leather absorbing moisture and imparting it to the tool.

  8. Same bat time, same bat channel brother :). Just need to make sure it's what Marc wants for his knife lol.

My leather is completely saturated with hot beeswax...as much as it will absorb while melting it in with a heat gun. The inside is oiled with neatsfoot after. I guess it's possible it could absorb some moisture....but I don't think so. My own hunting knife stays in its sheath year round, without a sign of rust. Prior to the wax treatment though, it would rust over the course of a couple days. I'll eventually do the same with all of my holsters, and yes...until I do I'll store them separate :).

I inherited my dad's O1 hunting knife about 10 years after he died. I suspect it spent most of that time in its leather sheath, and had no rust on it. It did have some patina, so that might have protected it. The brass snaps on the sheath were kind of green, tho. And it lives out of its sheath now.

  10. Patina definitely helps. Also, if the leather was properly tanned, and then properly conditioned...it shouldn't be a problem either, even without the wax. I use the wax as an ultra safeguard, as well as to strengthen the protection for the knife (think leather armor).

  11. :)

  12. No one's been waiting for this one longer then @Dinsdale .

Should mail out Friday my friend!

  13. All right my friend.:BF

  14. Aha!! Thought I'd disappeared again did you?

You guys wouldn't be so lucky!

    :D

  15. I know what I'll send you for Christmas. This! Awesome knives deserves better videos :p

  16. LOL!! I think the camera lens is just trashed from being out in the shop brother. I wipe it with a microfiber tissue regularly!! It doesn't help that LG's software washes everything out to begin with, either :(.

Nice update. Glad to see new projects. Was almost a little disappointed when you called one "Al's knife".

  18. Thanks Robert! I'm trying to get through the Christmas crunch here (have two birthdays in November/December as well lol) with commissioned work, then over the next while I'll be dropping back to catch up EVERYTHING that's either not custom knife work, or is already previously paid for (I know that sounds backwards, but I ask people not to pay me in advance for a reason!). Pretty much the only knives that are on the list that those two things encompass are your extra work, and Walid's five knives lol.

By the way, your 200mm extra heavy is on the list here shortly also :).

  19. Pretty nice update! Can't wait so see how that last extra heavy gyuto finishes up
