Mareko Maumasi on Forged In Fire Aug. 3rd @10pm on History

Discussion in 'Maumasi Fire Arts' started by Mareko Maumasi, Jul 31, 2015.

  1. Hey you guys I just wanted to post really quickly that I'll be featured on the History channel's new forging competition series, Forged In Fire this coming Monday, August 3. For more about me and my appeance on the show, take a look at this write-up on a local news website ThurstonTalk.com.

Also if any of you happen to be in the area, I'll be hosting a forging demo at my shop as well as having some of my knives available to handle and to use.

Thank you for your support and for taking a look. Let me know if you've any questions, both leading up to the airing and after.

    Kindest regards,

    Mareko

Here's a link to the History Channel's page with the full episode videos: http://www.history.com/shows/forged-in-fire/videos

Can you see them, or have the copyright trolls forbidden it?

Edit. Whoops, I see that you need to register (and pay) to see them.

2d edit. The episodes are also available on iTunes - $9.99 for a season pass for all episodes aired so far and to come.

$10 for the whole season just might be well worth the money! Thanks, Rick. :)

Crap. Can't find it on iTunes either....

I do really enjoy that show even though I know it has taken your art to a ridiculous extreme. Well done Mareko. To be thrown into a task so far from your norm and to come through as you did is amazing. I personally thought your Gladius handle the better design as it would not tend to twist in the hand. Hope it was fun.

  15. So disappointed!
Mareko, you did an OUTSTANDING job! Sometimes the best doesn't always win, especially on TV! The show (I've seen every episode thus far) is entertaining, but it reminds me a lot of Chopped. I have issues with how things are judged. It seems like the judges pick winners based on things that don't matter to a person versed in that field, like maybe it's more about ratings........I swear on Chopped the person with the best "sob story" usually wins.....
....it did look like a great group of guys on your episode though.
.......as if I didn't already REEEEEEEEEEAAALLLLYY want a Maumasi blade! Seeing how you handled yourself makes me want one even more. You're on the top of my list, now I need to get on yours!
    Cheers on your continued success!

I feel like you should have won. The other guy gave them a warped blade! And the one dude didn't like how it felt in his hand.
I heard 2 negatives from the judges about the other guys blade and only 1 about yours. I thought for sure you would be the victor.

That was just plain weird, enter a competition with a warped blade, handle that rolls in the hand of one judge(last blow to the wines etc looked like the world series of cricket) and win? :Dave

Anyway: nice work, it was fun to watch! :)

  18. It's not here in mainland Europe either. But fortunately there are torrents :) . I'm going to watch this episode tonight.
