Teach me about the great beers

  2. I get asked about beers all the time being a home brewer. My best recommendation is to find a good liquor store that has a good inexpensive "build your own six pack" section. Then buy stuff at random. Buy by the label, let your wife pick them out or even just ask for recommendations from who ever is behind the counter.
    Don't pay attention to the style or brewery at first. I come across a lot of people that think they only like certain styles or breweries, only because they have had lightstruck or poorly cellared craft beer from some unknown brew pub and it has turned them off to large spectrums of the beer world.
    An old boss of mine even tore the labels off and wrote down the brewery and style in a notebook, along with tasting notes. That way she was always drinking them blind, without any preconceived opinion.
    Any more there are so many different varieties, traditional and modern, that you will never find the beers that you LOVE unless you drink a few now and then that you don't like.
