On vacation so didn't bring my knives

Don't know how it slipped my mind. I did not realize how unpleasant it is to use dull and or silly knives. Staying at a vacation rental not thinking I'd want to slice an apple or some cheese etc. The place came with a drawer full of some cheap stainless knives that are comically dull. It is like they ran the edge over a grinding wheel at 90 degrees. Even with my old Gerbers, I kept them sharp, so it is really striking how bad these Ginzu-esq things are. Just a rant.

My knives are so dull cutting cheese feels like I'm using a bamboo skewer.

You should go rent a acetylene torch. Anything worth doing is worth overdoing.

That pineapple has met its match!
At least I have my EDC Benchmade with me. pretty sad when 8 or ten kitchen knives stay in the drawer and my pocket knife is the knife of choice.

I brought a 1/6 combo stone with me on vacation. I sharpened knives in 4 different cabins. They were like using butter knives.

wish you had been in my cabin in Door County before my arrival.

Home again. A pleasure to pull a knife from the block and have it do what it is supposed to do.

  18. I picked up this little thing at a flea market for fifty cents. Had to do massive thinning behind the edge and then put an edge on it. It stays in my suitcase for emergencies.

I picked a couple of them up at Korin a few years ago for 5 bucks each. Its soft as hell but it does come in handy when someone wants to "help" in the kitchen.

I think it was listed as a Picnic knife.
