I would say absolutely because you can always resell it for almost double the MSRP. Just make sure you are buying from an authorized dealer as there are chinese knock offs out there.

  2. I am military so I can buy direct right away from him. Not looking to flip it, but I heard they are tough as nails.

Yep, they are tough as nails and look damn fine as well.

    Yes, they are rather sturdy.
As far as knives go though, they are pretty much useless for cutting stuff.
Way to bulky behind the edge.
I've thinned mine considerably but it is still pretty much collecting dust by now.

And as for looks, well, to each his own I guess.
To me they are ugly as sin.
Looks in a tool is of no real value to me so I bought one based on rep and reviews.
I must have read all the wrong reviews, because it was not what I was looking for in a robust folder.

    In conclusion then.
If you want a prybar, go get yourself a prybar.
The Hinderer will do a piss-poor job at that.
If you want a knife that will cut well, there are way better options out there for much less money.

Birnando has way more experience in the folding knife game than I do so definitely listen to what he has to say. I'm happy with my Hinderer but then again, I only own a handful of tactical folders and my Hinderer is my first mid tech.

Well, my opinion on Hinderer's is just that.
    An opinion.
I know lots of people that loves theirs, and they have collections and experience I could only dream of ;)

I use my folders in my job as a technician in the audiovisual industry most every day.
That includes cutting dry-wall, taking out holes in acoustic plates, opening tons of boxes, cutting cable-ties, stripping and cutting wires, fitting wood like baseboards and a bunch of other similar stuff.
(Yes, I do have proper tools designed for each of those tasks, but any tech will know that carrying too much tools every day gets rather tedious)

On my spare time I like to trek in the woods with my dog and kids.
In settings like that I'd typically whittle a little boat or something for the smallest, prep woods for a fire, cut and tie fishing lines or rope to name a few things.

To me, in those settings, the Hinderer is just too darn thick behind the edge to perform properly.
For others, it may very well be the bee's knees.
And as stated earlier, the thing is sturdy!
