I am told I'm hard to buy for. I got a Sodastream. I'd not have gotten it myself, and the economy of the device remains to be seen, but I do like sparkling water, so it has proved appreciated.
I wish the nice glass bottles fit this one though. sodastream.jpg

There's a guy that comes in to buy the CO2 tanks from us. Says he only uses it for cocktails. Carbonates his beverages. Or something like that.

There is a flavor similar to Sprite/7up that I'm sure would be tasty mixed with some Gin.

I got an unexpected gift of a pressure cooker. I was pretty stunned as I only mentioned it in passing a long time ago. So far I am really enjoying it.

Got new baking stone, 38x30x2 cm. It is a granite honed on both side, even has juice groove on reverse side, from Black Rock Grill. And it fits very well in my compact size oven. Oven spring is pretty awesome, much better than thin pizza stone I have been using.

Sorry James, just saw this now. Mostly stocks and soups. Made one of my best pea soups ever with the Christmas hambone. Also tried hardboiled eggs in it as discussed in that egg thread, works great.

One has been on the radar. Just things like kitchen shoes because the dog chewed his first pair of shoes in the six years I've had him and kitchen aid mixer repairs are coming first.

    Have you used it?

Yeah I've had the opportunity to play a little. I've done some Sousvide before but this thing is great and can see myself getting lots of use out of it at home and as well as some catering probably. I can appreciate the need and cost of quality kitchen shoes as well!

finally got a Dutch Oven. Off brand from Shopko, but been watching it for a year and a half. msrp $99. been hovering at $39 for a while. then I guess black is not as desirable and it went to $34. with rewards coupons, I ended up paying $14 for it. I looked at the $200 plus models and just couldn't see that much difference. Wish me luck, on the maiden voyage tonight. Just went in the oven

    Looking good Mike.
I have an off brand and it works very well compared to my expensive ones.. No idea how it will hold up over time.

  14. Even if it doesn't hold so well to prolonged use, as long as the enamel doesn't come off too soon it's a great score at $14. And it looks good.

Thanks guys. Chicken breasts over vegetables came out PDG. would have spiced it more heavily if not for the tender ones in attendance. love some recommendations on what to prep where the Dutch Oven shines.

  17. I make a lot of bean stews/soups. Use the PC to prep the beans and then slower cooking in the Dutch Oven with everything else.

Thanks Valgard. I had some baked beans in the plan. I do not yet have a pressure cooker. Wife has an irrational fear of them owed to a family legend that I find questionable.

Let me guess, Mike, blew up and killed half the people in the house? :D That's sorta how the story goes in my house! :jump

  20. Tell her that the new PC are much safer than the old stove top ones (I know of a few accidents with very old stove top PCs back in Cuba so the legend could be true, some burned people including my wife though her burning wasn't as bad as others') and they are extremely safe (several security measures are in place). I have ZERO worries with my "Instant Pot". Making beans without a PC is a PITA, especially here at 1000m above sea level. Enjoy your Dutch Oven.
