  2. A little embarrassing breaking a toe on a door:oops:

We have been to the same place for the past few months now, getting a good feel of where the fish feed and the routes they patrol, they are definitely creatures of habit in this lake.

Not to freak you out @WarrenB but that's how Jack Daniels died. (so they say). Kicked his safe one day because he couldn't get it open and broke his toe. They say that's where the blood poisoning originated from that eventually killed him.

    Get to the doctor!

After the fishing trip of course :j

  8. I thought so, but he has them to around 25lb/11kg!!!! So he wasn't as enthusiastic about having a pic done as I was:D
We are giving the same lake a go on the 3rd, good time for Pike so hopefully we will get a few.
His one was caught on a deadbait reeled in slowly twitching it along, I might chuck some plugs and lures about as the weather isn't that cold yet.

  9. A friend and I went on a 2 day fishing trip this week, weather wasn't great but I still had a few carp.

No fishy monsters but we still had a nice break

    Wow that a bigun.
Is it common to have such variety in the scale patterns and color Warren?

  11. The variation in the fish is pretty common in this lake, Jim, but some places we go are only stocked with one or two strains of carp so they pretty much all look the same.
It's nice to catch a variety of fish, the scale patterns and colours make up for the lack of size!

Here's a few more from previous trips, more variation.

Quite a dark fish looking at it in the water, but still some nice shades of brown along it once it's out of the water

This one has some kind of koi/fancy goldfish dna! Very round and has very large tail and trailing fins
    14lb2.jpg

A nice size this one! A lighter fish overall with a more yellowish tail.

This one is a much darker carp, so much variation in the fish we catch, never know what's going to grace our nets!

Hopefully next weekend I’ll be posting here. Time to revive this thread! In the meantime I broke out my gear and sorted out what I wanted in the new tackle bag. I’m going to keep it, along with one of those collapsable poles in the truck just in case. I forgot how addicting this hobby is for me. Worse than shaving gear! Or knives to some of you here. I haven’t been fishing since 2014ish and now that I got the bug all I’m doing is looking at new gear to buy. Oh boy.

Nope! My plans were ruined by work and rain. I had to pull a double at work so I didn’t get home until 6am Friday. Plus it rained.
    Fingers crossed for next weekend!
