So it was just a regular trip to the wine boutique.
On my way out I got caught in an amazing event. Farmers market... Right in the centre of the village. Took me by surprise...Crying shame noone is advertising these events like the Miley Cyrus dancing with Pope on ice and the like...

Anyway, that is what I got to play with, plus a nice little chat with an amazing farmer lady. Thanks to her.

And so here is what I did

Just the gentliest slow frying in the bacon, which by the way was made by an awesome dude and tender enough to make my arsecheeks sing and dance.
The cucurbita in the first picture got eaten raw and quickly - a flavour of the past, from mommas garden.

And what could accompany that kind of meal better than some homemade bread ??

People, I ask you all, if you just can afford it, support the local grown food and local farmers. Sometimes just a visit and a chat is all that is needed.
They really have a hard life and sacrifice a lot. Cheers

PS, and after all of that, grab a wine glass and relax :)

    Looking yummy, Mike.

  3. Oh, that one is easy to do if you are in Russia. Because of economical sanctions from EU it's impossible to get nice French cheese, or Finish milk or fresh fruits. So if your country experiences troubles supporting local farmers — just elect a crazy dictator and soon you'll end up with just the local stuff. Though there's a good possibility that local farmers would go bankrupt even before other countries setup economic sanctions :D

And damn you Mike for posting those tasty pictures! It's midnight and time to go to sleep, but thanks to this thread I'll have to go to the kitchen and search for anything consumable.

    That bread looks fantastic. ..

  5. I don't know whether I should laugh or cry about this... Probably cry. (On a positive note: you have lots of local mushrooms there.)

I also try to get stuff from local farmers, but I cannot live without Swiss and French cheese. (I just imported a couple of kilos of Austrian mountain cheese :D ). In theory I should be able to get great bacon, sausages and other meat from farmers close by. But the weird thing is that these animals are first exported to other countries and then re-imported, so they can be sold as Parma ham, Schwartzwalder schinken, etc. Quite ridiculous...

    Thanks Chanop man :)

You see, this is very sad.
I was a witness to this scene:
An old cow [intended :D] comes about and comments the price of eggs [a dollar an egg] and says she buys the supermarket eggs for a third of that. The farmer lady was speechless. Tried to explain but why should she even try?
And at the core of why I have an issue with it is the fact that average monthly wage here is about 3000 dollars. Yet nobody on the high chairs do anything to make people eat better since they actually have the money to eat better.
Instead, on the telly you see all different mastercook shite

    Cheers Bill

    :)

looks like magic Mike. Makes my mouth water and the timing is bad as it is bed time. I shop the local, but after that, I'm found wanting..

  10. Well, that one is easy: people of Norway can't afford better food because they spend too much on Teslas! :D

Hahaha You dont even know how true is that.
The ones in Teslas tend to eat the most junk and nothing local. But save money on fuel :)

    Thanks MotoMike
