Decided to make a light, white bean soup and serve a little above room temp for dinner tonight.

Putting the beans in to soak overnight:

After the overnight soak, you can see the beans have swelled quite a bit with the water they've taken on:

Seriously...some of the best Tasso you can get...especially good for mail order:

Many people toss the heart of the celery bunch...but for soups and stews, those leaves have a lot of flavor

Tasso is diced....and a little Kagekyio porn:

Primary ingredients assembled in the treehouse:

A masala of cumin, coriander, and kashmiri chile powder:

    throw in some smashed garlic:

Now, top with chicken stock and let simmer for 4-5 hours. Service photos to follow...

It all makes sense...except the tree house part. Sounds cool, and looks good, but whats the deal with the tree house?

The masala and Tasso sound like a great combination. Wouldn't have thought to try it. Looks gorgeous. No onion?

Heh....just a house that's on a hill, so it looks like a treehouse off the deck...

I thought about it, but thought adding carmelized onions would make it a lot heavier. It turned out heavier than I wanted anyway..."cooking light" isn't something I do much of. A little lemon and fresh cilantro lightened it up a bit though, here's a service photo:

Looks perfect. Hope you don't mind, I stared the pix and idea with a friend planning on making summer worthy soup.
