Thanks, Lucretia. Helpful and in line with things I like, but at over $25 in shipping cost for a few items I have passed for now. Gotta check out what Wholefoods has locally, I know they have the AP flowers (at Wholefoods prices, of course), maybe they have the yeast also - if not, Amazon ships it for free. Always was wondering what Fiori di Sicilia was, so maybe I get back to that in the future. Also wanted to try the pasta flour mix some day.

As for the rolls, in a perfect world, I would bake them in the morning while I am in the shower. But I will most definitely not get up at 3:30am to let the dough rise ;) That's why I was looking into the pre-baking. I will just try it out once I have the yeast.

That said, I would not mind a couple of pieces of Pierre's raspberry pie right now - my favorite berry.

Thanks Lucretia, got the yeast shipped free through Amazon and Wholefoods has the regular and whole wheat flours, so I am set with the basics. Fresh yeast makes such a huge difference!

Hey guys! So after dinner tonight, my wife was looking for something to have with coffee. So I pulled this together
Cream cheese, with 4 different fillings in a puff pastry.
There is blueberry, chocolate, serviceberry, and cloudberry

    Roasted spuds.

Amazing flavour. It fits bread so well.

I should know better than to look at this thread. One glimpse of that apple pie and my chair got tighter.

Hey guys... My sourdough starter crapped out! It is deader than a door knob. Not sure what happened to it, fed it , made some bread, fed it again a few days later, and now no sign of life. Tried for a wee, everything I can think of... So it go a proper burial tonight. Sad part is, it was so well established, and full of flavor, to get a new one back to that level will take months/years. Crappy...

Any thoughts why it may have failed. And any tips for making a new one?

Sourdoughs International ( http://www.sourdo.com/ ) has a pretty good selection of starters, although shipping outside the US looks pretty steep.
